My classmates and I thought that it would be a good idea to go to the beach during our Christmas break to unwind and prepare ourselves for the workload that summer term break brings. What started out as a simple get together ended up as a class outing which included 2 of our tutors and 10 students. We decided to go to Piha Beach.
Piha Beach, according to the official Piha website piha.co.nz, is a famous surf beach. It’s 40 kms away from Auckland City. There’s no public transport leading to the beach so everyone usually goes there by car. The roads are narrow and winding but other than that, it’s safe and easy to get there. The best part? It’s all free! You just have to pay for your gas and food.
This place is a must-visit for all Filipinos and other international students studying in New Zealand. It’s a place where you can chill and spend time with friends! The view is absolutely AMAZING!
The place is perfect for surfing, playing Frisbee and soccer, and getting a tan! You can hike to Lion Rock as well. It’s a small yet extremely tiring treck (for me) but is safe enough that even children can climb up (of course with adult supervision).
Sadly though, you can’t reach the summit because apparently the soil is unstable. Still, the view near the summit is absolutely breathtaking!
Needless to say, we all had FUN!
Will definitely come back here for sure! ❤
To end this post, here’s a picture of me with a ridiculously happy face. XD
